Rangers are in direct talks with Austrian outfit RB Salzburg over the potential of Danny Rohl switching clubs.

The Bears hired the 37-year-old in October of 2025 following the dismissal of Russell Martin, and lots has unfolded since.

Rohl led the Gers' resurgence up the Scottish Premiership table, and came within touching distance of winning the league, but ultimately, a horrid final few games of the season blew that chance.

There have even been calls to sack the former Sheffield Wednesday boss, who remains an admired head coach across Europe.

RB Salzburg want to appoint Rohl with immediate effect, as the Austrian Bundesliga side remains in contact with Rangers to find a solution.

Now, further questions over Rohl's contract will be asked.

Danny Rohl contract release clause answer shared

Rohl has already been linked with a move to VfL Wolfsburg last season, but was quick to shut down rumours of an exit.

Now that the campaign has ended and he's had time to reflect on the season as a whole, he may decided that being in that hotseat at Ibrox isn't for him.

However, it may not be as straightforward as Salzburg hopes, as talkSPORT's transfer chief, Alex Crook, has revealed his understanding of Rohl's contract

It's said that the Gers boss does not have a release clause in his deal at Ibrox.

This means that any possible exit will require both Rangers and Salzburg to come to an agreement over compensation.

But that's only if Rohl does want to leave.

Rohl cannot bail after request to Andrew Cavenagh

It was be madness if Rohl were to leave so early into the summer, especially given the public backing from Andrew Cavenagh recently.

Gers could have sacked him after the season finished, but decided to trust the process instead, something not many supporters would have done.

Rohl was suggested to have shouted at Cavenagh following the aftermath of Rangers' 2-1 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle, demanding that the Gers owner buys him leaders this summer.

He's already done that with the arrival of Lawrence Shankland, as other targets are in place for Rohl, with the likes of Dan Neil and Bryan Reynolds.

If the German bails now, he would be a brave man to ever step foot in Glasgow again, as all of the summer planning done so far has been catered to his vision.
