Rangers and RB Salzburg have reportedly reached an agreement over Danny Rohl, with Derek McInnes set to become the new Gers boss.

The Bears are in the process of finalising terms for Rohl to complete his switch to RB Salzburg, just days after the interest from the Austrian giants emerged.

It's been a hectic few days for the 49ers, who quickly identified Hearts boss McInnes as the leading candidate to replace their current head coach.

Once Rohl's move goes through, room will then be made for McInnes to officially sign on as Rangers' new manager.

The current Hearts boss is set to sign a three-year contract with Gers, just weeks after the 49ers stole the Jambos' star player, Lawrence Shankland.

Barring no late collapse, Rohl will be the new head coach of RB Salzburg, with McInnes the next in charge at Ibrox.

Derek McInnes was always top target for Rangers

According to the update from Sky Sports this Monday, Gers and Salzburg have completed a deal for Rohl to join the latter.

The 49ers will be then in line for a multi-million-pound compensation, once everything is confirmed.

There were early suggestions that Andrew Cavenagh and Co. would re-target the appointment of Steven Gerrard, but he was not thought to be at the forefront of their thoughts.

After drawing up a four-man list, the 49ers decided that McInnes would be the man to go for, as the Hearts boss is soon to be announced as the new man in charge at Ibrox.

It makes things easy in terms of the Shankland signing, but talks will need to be held once he is appointed over the rest of the business this summer.

Plans were in place to cater to Rohl's needs, but that could change, with the double head coach swap set to be announced imminently.

Who else could McInnes bring with him from Hearts?

McInnes built something to admire last season at Tynecastle Park, turning Hearts into genuine title competitors.

His work clearly worked its charm on Cavenagh and Co., who have been left impressed, as Gers are confident he is the man to take the club forward.

There have already been talks that McInnes could bring Cammy Devlin with him, among other Hearts stars.

But Stig Igne Bjornebye will have his outlined targets, and will need to work closely with McInnes to make sure Rangers sign who they need, not just cherry-picking some of Hearts' best players.
