Danny Rohl could be on his way to RB Salzburg, and Rangers would be due some hefty compensation for his departure.

Reports this week saw the Gers boss linked with another move away from Ibrox after only coming to the club in October.

The 37-year-old was tipped for a move back to Germany near the end of last season, as VfL Wolfsburg were keen on his services.

However, the former Bayern Munich assistant coach was adamant that he wanted to help the Light Blues get back to the top of Scottish football.

But recent developments have seen Austrian side Salzburg hold talks with the Bears to try and find a solution that would see the head coach leave Glasgow this summer.

Some Rangers fans would be happy to see Rohl leave, and while the 49ers have publicly backed him recently, they may be tempted by a big compensation payout.

Rangers can boss RB Salzburg around with Danny Rohl compensation

Rangers have clear evidence to show Salzburg just how important Rohl is to them due to early summer plans that have been made already around the German.

There is said to be no release clause in Rohl's contract, and the remaining two years on his deal could see RB Salzburg have to pay up a big fee to Ibrox chiefs.

According to the Daily Record, Gers could pocket a "sizeable compensation cheque" by letting Rohl leave for Salzburg.

The head coach has yet to be granted permission to speak with the Austrian outfit, and it's not known what his preference is right now, but the clubs want a quick solution.

It's also said that RB Salzburg are confident that they can find the cash needed to essentially purchase Rohl, which could see several million head to Andrew Cavenagh's pockets.

Rangers fans would know better than anyone else that the Bears could be about to rip RB Salzburg off big time.

Danny Rohl exit gets serious as four-man Rangers replacement shortlist emerges

Why Rohl exit could work in Rangers' favour

Many Rangers fans were upset to hear that the 49ers would back Rohl this summer, as others were willing to give him a chance.

It's clear to see that Cavenagh and Co. intend to back Gers as much as they can this summer, but if Rohl gets off to a poor start next season, there will be havoc at Ibrox.

That's why Rangers are being offered an escape route here, with RB Salzburg willing to steal Rohl away from them, despite knowing his flaws.

With the show of ambition in the transfer market, Rohl leaving and being replaced with someone like Steven Gerrard could make the start of the season the most anticipated campaign in a long time.

Let's see what happens, but there is a sense of inevitability about him going now.
