Danny Rohl exit gets serious as four-man Rangers replacement shortlist emerges
Rangers are believed to have drawn up a four-man shortlist to replace Danny Rohl.
Red Bull Salzburg are pushing to take the Ibrox boss to Austria to succeed Daniel Beichler, who was sacked earlier this month.
The two clubs are in talks over a compensation package, with Jurgen Klopp pushing to add the former Sheffield Wednesday man to the Red Bull ranks.
It has been reported that Rohl is edging closer to a departure, with a multi-million figure on the cards for the Light Blues.
While he does not particularly want to leave the Govan side, the chance to be closer to his family would appeal to him.
The developments mean that the Gers have already started their succession planning, keen to get a new appointment through the door as soon as possible.
Who is on Rangers' four-man shortlist to take over from Danny Rohl?
Andrew Cavenagh and the hierarchy are understood to have already drawn up a four-man shortlist to replace Rohl, if a deal is agreed with the Austrian club.
Derek McInnes is mentioned as a potential candidate, despite having turned the post down when he was at Aberdeen.
The Rangers Review report also mentions Steven Gerrard, who won the Scottish Premiership with the Bears in the 2020-21 campaign.
The identity of the other two other names is not revealed, although one is a former Premier League manager.
Why Derek McInnes should be Rangers' choice
McInnes should be the standout candidate for the Gers - that is an obvious conclusion.
His Hearts side were very unlucky not to win the title last season, and he knows exactly what it means to manage the Glasgow Giants.
He played 34 times for the club between 1995 and 2000, so he knows the level of expectation that he will have to live up to.
Another plus when it comes to McInnes is that he has worked with Lawrence Shankland last season, with the Scotland forward notching 20 goals and six assists under his management.
If he can get him to record similar numbers at Ibrox, if will put the G51 club in a great position to try and win the title.
The 54-year-old should be the first candidate that the majority ownership contact, if Rohl does indeed move on.
