Rangers' summer planning has been put on hold for the time being, with Danny Rohl's future up in the air.

After previous links with Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen, things have settled down regarding a potential Rohl departure.

Since then, the Gers have been planning for the 2026-27 season with the German boss at the helm.

However, his future at Ibrox has once again been called into question, with reports linking him to a move to Austrian giants RB Salzburg.

As a result, fans of the Govan outfit are split, with the disappointing end to the season taking a huge hit to his reputation.

With this in mind, he may just have been handed a no-brainer decision as he considers his own career.

Danny Rohl could be convinced despite Salzburg controversy

In 2005, the club commonly known as Austria Salzburg was taken over by the energy drink giant Red Bull.

At the time, the late Dietrich Mateschitz changed the name, management, and staff, dubbing the club a brand-new one with no history.

Naturally, this remains controversial among Austrian fanbases, while Salzburg have few supporters of their own.

However, as seen with other projects across football and other sports, Red Bull can operate as a talent hoover in comparison to their rivals.

For years, Red Bull monopolised the Austrian Bundesliga, with Sturm Graz's 2024 title win being the only non-RB title in a decade, while the likes of Sadio Mane, Erling Haaland, Dominik Szoboszlai and Benjamin Sesko came and went.

The same can be said for managers, with Roger Schmidt, Adi Hutter, Marco Rose and Jesse Marsch all launching respectable top-level careers at the cl

The place is an excellent stop to develop talent, while it is the ideal place to put yourself in the shop window.

As disappointing as that fact is to admit, it is simply the modern footballing landscape, and Rohl could just benefit from a less pressurised environment than Ibrox.

One connection makes decision a no-brainer for Danny Rohl

With four clubs in total across Germany, Austria, the USA and Brazil, Red Bull have been able to create a global football network similar to their involvement in Formula 1 and extreme sports.

At the top of this food chain sits RB Leipzig, or 'Rasenballsport Leipzig' to circumvent the German sponsorship rules (meaning 'Lawn-ball-sports' quite literally).

In many ways, success for Rohl at Salzburg could be a stepping stone for him to take over at Leipzig.

Now a constant threat at the top of the Bundesliga, and a consistent Champions League qualifier, Leipzig are one of the middle men between the top class and elite levels of European football.

Xavi Simons, Dayot Upamecano, Dani Olmo, Timo Werner, the aforementioned Szoboszlai and Sesko, the list of talents shaped in the Saxon city is endless.

The same can be said for managers, with Julian Nagelsmann moving on to Bayern Munich, while Ralph Rangnick and namesake Hasenhuttl saw their reputations skyrocket as a result of tenures at the club.

Equally as, if not the most controversial product of the Red Bull group, RB Leipzig are not exactly seen in a positive light in Germany, but they are a springboard, while the ambitions of the group in general have only increased since Jurgen Klopp joined the hierarchy.

Performing at Leipzig can be just the step to the top level of Europe, and this could already be on the mind of Rohl as he eyes the Salzburg post.

Rangers are a huge club, but one that comes with pressure unmatched across the continent - the Red Bull group could offer him a way out of that, with a guaranteed route to the top, should he perform.
