Rangers winger Vaclav Cerny has been lauded in the Czech media following his nation's 1-1 draw with Ukraine in the Nations League.

Cerny was withdrawn after 58 minutes of the draw in Wroclaw on Monday [14 October], but put in what the national press have described as an "excellent" showing.

The winger worked well with West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal down the right which received acclaim, as the wideman returns to Glasgow following his match-winning double last time out against St Johnstone.

Michal Kvasnica of iSport.cz [14 October] said: "Cooperation between Vladimír Coufal and Václav Černý on the right? ... Excellent."

Another Czech media outlet, Ceske Noviny [15 October], described Cerny as "Active" after creating a chance that could have doubled their lead on the night.

Vaclav Cerny making headlines at Rangers

It has become pretty clear since Cerny's arrival at Ibrox that he thrives off confidence and belief.

The two goals against St Johnstone were instrumental in getting over the line at Ibrox, but at the same time, will hopefully continue a positive streak of momentum from the viewpoint of Philippe Clement and the supporters.

The international break has put paid to any further appearances in a blue shirt until Sunday [20 October] against Kilmarnock.

Many have noticed how much a positive environment affects Cerny in the right way, as Derek Ferguson pointed out the Czech was "emotional" against St Johnstone after a tough night against Lyon in the prior days.

David Edgar echoed the statement [7 October via X], claiming Cerny was "honest and emotional" when speaking to the press after the win.

The ability is there; the next task for Cerny is consistency, and he can be a scary proposition for Clement and the Gers for the rest of the season.
