McInnes has laid the groundwork at Rangers to win his first league title as a manager.
During the summer transfer window, it looked like Celtic were getting the better of their Old Firm rivals after investing heavily in Kasper Hogh, Haissem Hassan, Mika Baur and Camilo Duran.
Fast forward to the end of September and the Hoops look to be in massive trouble, with Martin O'Neill's future uncertain.
On the other end of Glasgow, the Scottish manager needed some time to get things right at Ibrox, but finally seems to have found the winning formula.
Speaking on BBC Sportsound on 26 September, English said, "It's amazing, isn't it? It's staggering. And I've been around a long time. How quickly this has turned.
"I was in the radio studio in the blink of an eye ago, confidently predicting that Hogh was going to tear up the league and score a million goals.
"And that Celtic were over the hill and far away from everybody else in terms of who's going to win the league.
"And I looked at Rangers and I thought, 'You're a shambles. You're all over the place.' Derek McInnes making half-time substitutions, two and three of them at multiple times, no identity and no discernible style of play. And at breakneck speed, everything has flipped."
Who Ibrox faithful will want to see more from after the break
Rangers made 14 summer signings and a few of them have already made a difference under McInnes.
Ivor Pandur, Olwethu Makhanya, James Penrice, Dan Neil and Minsu Kim have been influential in the Gers' success over the last few weeks.
One player the Ibrox faithful will surely want to see more from is Kevin Kelsy.
With Lawrence Shankland and Youssef Chermiti sidelined, the Light Blues need a reliable goalscorer and the Venezuela international must step up to the plate.
The Govan side made a significant financial commitment to sign Kelsy and the coming months will determine whether he can be the next big thing in G51.
He got his first against Celtic, and now it's time to continue that run.
