The Rangers moment that has Kevin Thomson convinced Vanja Dragojevic is a 'star' in the making
Vanja Dragojevic has continued to grow into life at Rangers.
The Serbian midfielder looked a bit shaky early on but it seems that was just a natural kink to sort through following his move.
After scoring a screamer against St Mirren at the weekend, the Rangers man would no doubt have been raring to go with confidence.
And that was evident in his performance in the UEFA Conference League qualifier against Jablonec.
Dragojevic was handed a high rating for his display on the night at Ibrox.
But one fleeting moment has left former Rangers man Kevin Thomson in no doubt about the midfielder's skills.
What did Kevin Thomson say about Vanja Dragojevic?
Rangers' first-half display against Jablonec was anything but vintage.
The Bears were lacking creativity and were unable to break down the Czech side's defence.
However, one man who did look to try break that deadlock was Dragojevic.
In the first half, Dragojevic had a chance at goal from quite a distance. It was an innocuous moment that had little impact on the game.
However, speaking at half-time on Rangers TV, Thomson picked that instance out to speak about the midfielder and sing his praises.
He stated: "That just flew by the top corner, and this one, listen, there's plenty of distance in it, probably the best part of 30 yards, to be honest.
"But to have the personality at such a young age to back himself, which I really like, and I think he's going to be a star, me, Dragojevic."
Thomson would then go on to assert his convincement over the 20-year-old, sharing that he believes he has "all the tools" for a midfielder in the modern game.
It is early days but Dragojevic is showing plenty of signs that he will quickly become an Ibrox favourite.
Why Rangers need more from their other midfielders
Other than Dragojevic, it was an interesting night for the Gers' midfielder roster.
Dan Neil was not at his best but he turned creator by picking out an incredible ball for Daisuke Yokota for the opening goal.
Neil won't get the credit per the stats as Yokota laid it off for Ryan Naderi to score from.
That moment did hide the inefficiencies on display by the former Sunderland man, though.
Elsewhere, Cammy Devlin got sent off after just four minutes on the field, following a VAR review.
Meanwhile, Tochi Chukwuani proved to be a danger man in that number 10 role, but there is still a feeling that Thelo Aasgaard can offer more.
Nicolas Raskin's future is still to be decided, with it not certain he will remain at Ibrox following the transfer window closing.
Overall, other than Dragojevic, it is hard to say which of the Gers' midfielders should be starting.
Derek McInnes has plenty of time to decide, though.
The Glasgow side's league fixture versus St Mirren is postponed to allow the Bears to focus on the second leg against Jablonec on 27 August.
