The new reality Rangers fans face as multiple fixtures shifted

Rangers have seen three of their fixtures shift kickoff times for November.

The Gers have recovered from a slow start to the campaign to close the gap on Celtic.

Five wins in a row in the league, with Rangers most recently winning 1-0 at Celtic, has Derek McInnes' side within two points of top spot.

With Celtic potentially on the slide, it sets up what should be another thrilling title race - albeit likely a two-horse race one this time around.

That means plenty of eyes will be on Rangers and Celtic matches both in Scotland and also elsewhere.

It explains why various kickoff times have now changed for some upcoming matches.

Which Rangers fixtures have seen kickoff time changed?

Rangers announced via their official social media channels on Tuesday that three games will now kick off at a different time in November.

They are St Mirren away, which is now an 8pm kickoff on Saturday 7; Motherwell away, which is now an 8pm kickoff on Saturday 21; and Aberdeen at home, which is now an 8pm kickoff on Tuesday 24.

All three matches will now be televised live on Sky Sports, which explains the somewhat unique kickoff time for those two Saturday fixtures.

While the statement does not state as much, the reason behind it is pretty clear.

Why are multiple Rangers games kicking off at 8pm on a Saturday?

Rangers find themselves in an unwanted position of having no European football this season.

That is a result of the slow start under McInnes, which will ultimately cost the Glasgow club millions.

The one silver lining is that all focus can now go on domestic matters over the next eight months.

It also means Rangers will be playing fewer Sunday matches as a result of not being forced to play on Thursdays.

That means Sky can select more Saturday games Rangers are involved in.

Matches cannot be aired at 3pm, of course, while the 5:30pm slot is usually used for a Premier League game, so that leaves the 8pm slot open.

Rangers will play in two of those in news that has been received with rather mixed reviews.

Some fans are happy more games are set to take place late on a Saturday, though for others they would much rather an earlier kickoff.

Either way, this looks like being the new reality match-going fans will have to get used to this season.
