Who Clinton Nsiala has left Rangers for as 'significant' clause emerges
Clinton Nsiala is a Rangers player no more.
The 22-year-old defender has endured a challenging time of things during his Ibrox career.
Signing for Rangers in the summer of 2024 from AC Milan, many had high hopes for him in Govan.
However, the Frenchman was only able to make 17 competitive appearances for the Bears, 13 of which came in 2024-25.
After a disappointing loan spell with Westerlo in the second half of last season, Nsiala returned to Rangers this summer firmly out of favour.
Derek McInnes evidently hasn't seen him in his future plans, but now a fresh opportunity to kickstart his career has arrived.
How much money are Rangers getting for Clinton Nsiala?
Despite the Scottish transfer window being closed, that doesn't mean every window in world football is shut.
The United Arab Emirates transfer window opened on 13 July, and doesn't close until 28 September.
As such, their clubs only have a matter of days to conclude their business, and that's seen one of them come knocking on Rangers' door.
Confirming via their Instagram on Tuesday night, Sharja FC have completed the permanent signing of Nsiala on a two-year contract.
A subsequent report from the Rangers Review claims that Gers have collected a £300,000 fee for the defender.
It's also claimed that Rangers have inserted a "significant" sell-on clause into the deal, setting them up for future profits if he's a success there.
But what are Nsiala's chances of lining Rangers' pockets further in the future with Sharjah, and how strong a team are they in UAE football?
Why Nsiala will face challenging road to Sharjah starting role
Currently sitting fifth in the UAE Pro League, Sharjah are a big club in UAE football.
They've won the Pro League once in 2018-19 and were runners up in 2024-25 and 2020-21.
Numerous cups have also been won in recent years, and so Nsiala is joining a side with a recent history of success.
However, he's also joining a team that already has a number of left-backs in their ranks, and ones that will push him for starting minutes.
Abdel Karim Shehata is a summer signing and highly-rated 23-year-old defender.
Meanwhile, 24-year-old Vladimir Prijovic and 21-year-old Leandrinho, Sharjah's current starting left-back, both provide good competition.
The latter in particular, as he's a Brazilian youth international and has been in strong form to open their 2026-27 season.
So, Nsiala is far from guaranteed a starting role with Sharjah, but in truth, Rangers will simply be happy to get him off their wage bill and to bank a six-figure fee for him.
