Kosta Nedeljkovic was once again in action for Serbia as they fell to defeat against the Netherlands on Sunday.

Despite hardly featuring on loan at Rangers and suffering a recent injury, it's been a positive international break.

The right-back has started his countries' final two games of the extended break, and will now return to Ibrox.

Derek McInnes has used him sparingly, and will welcome the chance to bolster his squad again after several issues.

It was a rough introduction to Group A in the Nations League for the Serbians, but one they clearly took in their stride.

And Nedeljkovic has been at the heart of that.

What did Serbian media say about Kosta Nedeljkovic?

It was another positive start for the right-back.

After coming so close to scoring in a 2-0 defeat against Germany last week, he was deployed down the right again.

And Mozzart Sport loved his start to the game, rating him a 6/10.

They wrote: "It worked out so well for him that literally in the first minute he got a chance to clear one ball from the box and that seemed to give him confidence.

"He got along quite well with Lang, he also appeared offensively, but in the second half he completely fell silent.

"We even scored the second goal from that side of his, from where Reijnders played a return ball for Zirkzee."

Mondo noted how Nedeljkovic had to "eliminate" danger only seconds into the game, defending well.

Why was Serbia loss so dramatic?

Veljko Paunović, head coach of the Serbians, was not happy.

Despite playing a young team and having not won at all so far in the break, they stayed in the game against one of Europe's best.

But, Paunovic was left scratching his head at some of the calls from the officials, who he claims actually helped the Dutch.

Overall, though, it's been a huge learning curve for the Serbians, who will likely only get better from their exposure to these sort of games.

The same goes for Nedeljkovic, who will have watched the two Old Firm wins over Celtic and relish the chance to feature in later additions this season.

With his loan move from Aston Villa containing an option to make it permanent, he's got a long way to go until he proves himself.

First of all, he's got to find a way around Dujon Sterling, which looks to be impossible right now.

The first step of that mission was to gain minutes slowly, but he's been thrown in at the deep end with his country, and McInnes will certainly appreciate that.
