How Rangers' Kosta Nedeljkovic came 'centimetres' from Serbia history vs Germany
Rangers defender Kosta Nedeljkovic almost gave Serbia a moment to remember against Germany.
The 20-year-old is still finding his feet at Ibrox following his summer loan move from Aston Villa.
Highly thought of at Villa Park, the right-back has yet to carve out a key role under Derek McInnes.
That's largely been down to the form Dujon Sterling has shown as he continues to fill James Tavernier's boots in impressive style.
So, the international break provides him with a chance to catch McInnes' eye whilst representing his country.
He very nearly did that on Thursday night, as Serbia took on Jurgen Klopp's Germany.
Why Kosta Nedeljkovic wasn't to blame for Serbia moment vs Germany
Munich was the setting for Serbia's visit to Germany, as both sides continued their Nations League campaigns.
The visitors were always going to be in for a tough evening, but they gave a good account of themselves against the four-time world champions.
In the end, it was Germany who ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Tom Bischof and Florian Wirtz.
However, Serbia had a golden opportunity to take the lead just after the half hour mark, and it fell to Nedeljkovic.
Describing the moment via Mondo, reporter Dusan Ninkovic wrote: "Serbia was only a few centimetres away from taking the lead in Munich.
"The first serious attack of our team was carried out by Filip Kostić on the left flank, where he remained completely alone.
"He ran into the penalty area, saw Kosta Nedeljkovic at the second post and failed to hit him.
"Serbia's right back almost hit an empty net and gave our team the lead."
Clearly then, it was Kostic's ball across that wasn't quite on the money for Nedeljkovic to turn home.
If he had, then this would've been a landmark moment in Nedeljkovic's young career.
Why Nedeljkovic would've wrote his own Serbia history with Germany goal
Despite being just 20, Nedeljkovic is already fairly experienced at international level.
Indeed, he's represented Serbia numerous times at Under-17, 18 and U-19 levels, before making his senior debut in 2024.
Since then he's won 13 senior caps for his national team, but there's one thing still escapes him: his first goal.
By the sounds of it, this moment against Germany was perhaps the closest the Rangers loanee has ever come to changing that so far.
Nedeljkovic will have one more chance to do so before this international break ends, as Serbia take on the Netherlands on Sunday.
Serbia have never beaten the Dutch since they became an independent nation in 2006 though, so Nedeljkovic and his side will have their work cut out.
