Rangers vs Celtic ref watch: Three decisions Nick Walsh got terribly wrong at Ibrox

Referee Nick Walsh is not often a popular figure around Ibrox, with him being in charge during Rangers' 3-0 win against Celtic.

The Gers have rampantly progressed into the semi-final after Derek McInnes' side produced an excellent performance.

In truth, Celtic never looked really in it, and the Bears dominated much of the proceedings.

Being the referee in an Old Firm fixture is no easy job for any official, and on this occasion Walsh had a couple of poor calls.

As despite Rangers' dominance, there were still a number of talking points.

With three moments picked out from Rangers' Premier Sports Cup victory against their bitter Glasgow rivals.

Ryan Naderi gets caught on the ankle, Celtic free-kick

In the 65th minute, Ryan Naderi was involved in an innocuous moment, where he slipped but Celtic's Mika Baur would catch him on the ankle.

Despite, it being Baur that made contact first with Naderi, the free-kick would be given Celtic's way.

Rangers may not be too fussed following the result, as they did get away with a few 50-50 challenges themselves.

Although, this one was certainly strange to be seen given.

James Penrice unfairly awarded a yellow card

In the 77th minute, Celtic man Haissem Hassan had looked to run down the line as O'Neill's side aimed to try turn things around or at least add a consolation.

The Egyptian was fouled by Dujon Sterling, but it was James Penrice who ended up in the book following the aftermath.

Before a foul was given, Penrice had every right to try and win the ball back, and in doing so, inadvertently booted it right at Hassan's face.

The Celtic man was angered by the incident, with scuffles pursuing, started by the Egpytian.

It was certainly unfair that Penrice was then put in the referee's book following the incident, when he had simply just looked to clear the danger.

At least Hassan was also booked.

Colby Donovan lucky to escape sending off

Celtic defender Colby Donovan put himself under early pressure by picking up a yellow card in the 27th minute.

On a stage like the Old Firm, especially as a young 20-year-old, that can be a dangerous situation to put yourself in.

The fullback would go on to make a number of more fouls, and perhaps on another day, he would have been shown a yellow card for at least one of them.

Truthfully, if Rangers had not won by the margin they did, this may have ended up being a bigger story.

He was very fortunate to remain on the field.
