Rangers defender Olwethu Makhanya provided his credentials against Celtic on Sunday.

Derek McInnes has preferred the South Africa international and Emmanuel Fernandez at the back and the Gers continued with them at Ibrox on 13 September.

While there have been question marks over the Light Blues' frailties at the back, the two defenders were up to the task in the Old Firm derby.

Makhanya specifically stood out for his quality on the ball at Ibrox, dribbling around Celtic players in the game.

Having taken the lead through Dan Neil in the first half, Kevin Kelsy scored his first goal under Derek McInnes.

The former Sunderland midfielder got his brace with another brilliant strike as the Govan side won 3-0 on the afternoon.

The Scottish manager has struggled to bring the best out of the Gers and find consistency, but the Old Firm display was an almost perfect performance.
