Rangers: Ryan Naderi can still thrive despite striker abundance, Rohl's already shown how
Rangers striker Ryan Naderi may be wondering where he will fit in next season at Ibrox.
The striker joined in the winter transfer window as the Gers looked to add more goals to the frontline, and has featured 11 times already.
However, after the arrival of Lawrence Shankland and Youssef Chermiti showcasing excellent goalscoring traits, the German might be fearing his role within the team.
Naderi, though, may be set for a slight change of his position, with Danny Rohl already showcasing a potential plan for him next season.
Rohl is under pressure to deliver the next campaign, and Naderi could be central to his plans.
What role will Ryan Naderi play at Rangers next season?
While typically a centre-forward, Rohl has already used Naderi in a slightly deeper role at Rangers.
When the Ibrox outfit faced Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, the German was utilised in the number 10 role, sitting behind Youssef Chermiti.
It was a tactical decision that proved to work, as the Gers ran out as 4-1 winners.
Additionally, in that game, Naderi was instrumental in creating the second goal for Rangers.
The 22-year-old, situated in that deeper position collected the ball close to the half way line and through his pace and power carried the ball close to the Aberdeen
He then layed the ball off to Mikey Moore who calmly slotted the ball away to make it 2-0.
While it may have been a once-off decision by Rohl, it did arrive not long before Naderi got injured.
So, the German may not have got the chance to experiment with this tactic again, but it could certainly be one he has up his sleeve.
Why Naderi may welcome position change at Rangers
Players can often be unhappy about being played in an unnatural position, but Naderi may welcome this one.
With Shankland and Chermiti at Rangers, Naderi could find himself as the third-choice striker heading into next season.
With an ability to play deeper, and still get involved in attacks, the 22-year-old could see his minutes improve in that regard.
It remains to be seen where Naderi fits into the Rangers squad next season, but with four strikers, including the two aforementioned forwards and Bojan Miovski at Ibrox, it makes plenty of sense to convert one of them.
Naderi may end up finding himself boosted in the pecking order, though, as Chermiti continues to be linked with a move away from Scotland ahead of the transfer window.
