Rangers' record with Duncan Nicolson as Dundee appointment confirmed
Duncan Nicolson will be the referee for Rangers' trip to Dundee on Saturday night.
Gers head for Dens Park to contest an 8pm kick-off in the Scottish Premiership with Steven Pressley's side.
Dundee have made a good start to the season, winning four of their opening eight games and have back-to-back wins under their belts currently.
However, Rangers are the in-form side in the division at the moment, winning their last six league games on the spin.
So, three points on the road this weekend would lay another strong marker down to Celtic, whom Gers would jump above with a win.
The superstitious Bears fan will also be delighted to see the appointment of Nicolson as referee at Dens Park.
How many Rangers games has Duncan Nicolson refereed?
The Scottish FA have confirmed that Nicolson will have the whistle for Rangers' trip to Dundee.
His assistants are Jonathan Bell and Chris Gentles, the fourth official is Greg Soutar, VAR is Matthew MacDermid and assistant VAR is Sean Carr.
Nicolson is one of the newest additions to the Scottish Premiership's refereeing stable.
Indeed, he only started taking charge of games at this level in May last year, with his first match being between Motherwell and Kilmarnock.
As detailed via Transfermarkt, he's refereed Rangers three times in his career so far, and Gers have loved having him.
The Bears have won all three of those, with the most recent being a 1-0 win over Motherwell on matchday six this season.
Ryan Naderi scored the winning goal that day, whilst Nicolson also awarded Rangers a fairly soft penalty - which was missed - after a perceived foul on Djeidi Gassama.
Gers' other two wins with Nicolson came in a 5-2 victory over Falkirk in May this year and a 5-0 Scottish FA Cup triumph over Annan Athletic in January.
So, Nicolson is very much a good luck charm for Rangers, but can the same be said for Dundee?
What is Dundee's record with Nicolson as referee?
Nicolson will be slightly more familiar to Dundee than Rangers, as he's refereed Dark Blues games five times.
The Dee won't be displeased to see him turning up at Dens Park this weekend either, however.
That's because of those five games he's taken of theirs, Dundee have won three, drawn one and lost just the one.
Celtic provided that lone defeat in December last year, which only further cements how strong their record is with him.
Dundee's most recent victory with Nicolson came in the League Cup this July as the Dark Blues ran out 4-2 winners over Airdrieonians.
In terms of league games, Nicolson took charge of Dundee's 2-2 draw with Dundee United back in March and a 1-0 win over Falkirk in December last year.
