Rangers predicted XI vs Jablonec: Derek McInnes dumps winning formula, surprise omission in three changes
Rangers might change their starting lineup significantly against Jablonec on Thursday.
Ibrox will host the Czech side on 20 August, but Derek McInnes may have a different plan up his sleeve compared to the one against St Mirren.
In the 5-1 Premier Sports Cup win, the Scottish manager adapted his style to the opposition.
For Jablonec's trip to Ibrox, McInnes could return to what he knows best.
The 55-year-old head coach finally got his first win as the Govan side's boss after five attempts on 16 August.
However, the Scottish manager may be ready to ditch the winning formula as Lubos Kozel's team make their way to Glasgow.
Can James Penrice play for Rangers vs Jablonec?
Penrice wasn't included in Rangers' initial Conference League squad because his signing wasn't confirmed before the deadline to submit the player list.
McInnes has now revealed that the Scotland international has been included in the squad ahead of kick-off at Ibrox.
As a result, it wouldn't be surprising to see a backline of Dujon Sterling, Emmanuel Fernandez, Olwethu Makhanya and Penrice feature from the start against Jablonec.
While Nicolas Raskin has been described as a "flight risk" by McInnes, it wouldn't make sense not to use the 25-year-old as long as he's at the club and a transfer isn't imminent.
Cammy Devlin could come in to provide stability alongside the Belgium international in the engine room.
On the right-wing, Daisuke Yokota should keep his place as the Scottish manager seems to have taken a liking to him, with Thelo Aasgaard possibly returning to the starting lineup on the left.
Why Derek McInnes can surprise with starting lineup vs Jablonec
Rangers haven't seen the best of Lawrence Shankland since his move from Hearts, but McInnes will surely be hoping that will change soon.
The 31-year-old may partner Ryan Naderi up top at Ibrox in the first leg of the Conference League play-off.
With the three changes, the Scottish manager could likely return to his preferred 4-4-2 formation at the Gers.
It would also mean that there would surprisingly be no room for Djeidi Gassama in the starting lineup despite his goal and assist against St Mirren.
