Rangers can take optimism after Sky Sports reported that Everton will not be signing a striker, amid links to Hamza Igamane.

Igmane has been a crucial component of this Rangers team throughout the campaign but concerns arose around their ability to retain his services this window.

Everton had been linked with a move for the striker [Tuttosport] but the latest update from Antonin Toloui will allow Rangers fans to breathe a sigh of relief, for now.

Via Sky Sports News (3 February, 3:23pm), Toloui said: "[Everton] are unlikely to sign a striker today."

Hamza Igamane may stay at Rangers after all

There has been a cloud of anxiety all window at Ibrox surrounding the future of Igamane but for now, it looks as though he could be staying put in Scotland.

Of course, other clubs may look to make a late swoop but with Everton strong admirers, it may be time to hang the hat on his future being at Rangers.

If that is to be the case, it is a huge boost for the Gers and arguably the best business they could have conducted this winter given his importance to the side.

Losing Igamane would be a huge blow at Ibrox and severely hamper their ability to achieve any form of success in this campaign.

The Light Blues will still be looking to be active in the remaining hours of the window but for that to happen, they must ramp up their efforts with the deadline rapidly approaching.

However, arguably the best bit of business they could conduct is to ensure that Igamane remains an Ibrox player until at the very least the end of the season.
