Rangers are now reportedly in talks to hire Brian Priske as their new manager.

Priske, 48, was hired as the Feyenoord manager last summer after Arne Slot left for Liverpool.

However, the Danish coach was sacked in February due to bad results.

It seems he's now in the running to become the new Rangers manager as efforts ramp up to find Philippe Clement's permanent successor at Ibrox.

Priske in talks after official Patrick Stewart update at Ibrox

However, BBC Sport (24 May) now report that Priske is a contender to be the next man in charge at Ibrox after holding discussions with the Scottish Premiership runners-up.

It has now been over three months since the Gers sacked Clement. Barry Ferguson took interim charge of the first team between then and the end of the season.

Priske's managerial career has seen him win league titles at Midtjylland and Sparta Prague.

However, it's since been decided that the former midfielder will not be keeping his role in charge on a permanent basis.

Rangers chief executive Patrick Stewart told fans last week that the hunt for the new manager is "progressing well, and we look forward to concluding our process in the coming period".

Will Steven Gerrard be the new Rangers manager?

Most of the concrete speculation surrounding the Rangers job seems to be about Ancelotti.

The Italian coach has served as an assistant manager for his father Carlo Ancelotti for a long time but maybe it's time for the nepotism murmurs to be put to bed with Davide taking a full managerial role on his own.

However, nothing seems any more advanced with Gerrard than it is with Ancelotti and now Priske.

Talks have been reported between Rangers and those two parties but speculation linking them with a move to hire their former Scottish Premiership-winning manager seems to be little more than that - speculation.

Gerrard's return seems unlikely at this point but Priske, who's managed Midtjylland, Royal Antwerp, Sparta Prague and Feyenoord, looks like he could be someone to fit the mould of what the incoming Ibrox board might want.
