Nicolas Raskin only enhanced his reputation with the Rangers fans in the 1-0 win against Celtic on Sunday.

Derek McInnes' side were looking to secure a second victory within a week at Parkhead, after their dominant Scottish League Cup win at Ibrox last time out.

Ryan Naderi's first-half strike put them in the lead, and the Light Blues had several chances to increase their advantage.

Raskin's influence in the game was brilliant, but something that he was spotted doing in the contest was his best action.

For far too long, some Light Blues players have shown their arch rivals too much respect, that is not the case for Raskin.

That was evident in the early stages of the meeting at Parkhead.

In the 11th minute of proceedings in G40, Raskin showed that he understood the animosity.

The Belgian appeared to purposely kick the ball at Camilo Duran as the Celtic man was down on the floor, with the game playing on after.

Gers fans will love to see that, as it shows that the 25-year-old understands exactly what this game is all about.

Why Raskin staying could be key for Rangers' title hopes

Raskin was heavily linked with an exit in the summer, but he ended up staying put in Govan.

While many were in favour of his departure, as it would have brought significant funds into the club, they will be glad that he did not leave.

If he continues to perform how he did in the latest Old Firm encounter, he could be the difference maker when it comes to the destination of the league title.

Raskin made 16 passes into the final third, and completed four of the seven long passes that he attempted, for a 57 per cent success rate.

Defensively, he had eight contributions, with three tackles, five clearances and eight recoveries.

In terms of duels, he won five of seven on the ground and four of five in the air, for success rates of 71 per cent and 80 per cent.

It was a sensational performance from the 19-cap international, and it was made even sweeter due to what he did to Duran in the early stages.

McInnes will be relieved that he stuck around in Auchenhowie and he can still rely on him to turn up in the biggest moments, rather than watching him star elsewhere.
