Rangers star Nicolas Raskin starred in Belgium's 3-2 extra-time victory over Senegal on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old replaced Kevin de Bruyne in the second half of the contest and proved why there is so much interest in his services.

The Ibrox side have fielded interest from Premier League team Hull City, plus Italian sides Bologna and Atalanta and Spain's Real Betis.

But the midfielder's mind will be on helping his nation right now, rather than his Rangers future.

However, the inevitable questions will come after another brilliant showing on the biggest stage of them all.

The national media gave him rave reviews after his cameo helped the Red Devils to qualify for the round of 16, where they will face the United States.

Rangers midfielder continues to enhance his reputation

Raskin has gone from strength to strength recently, and he has given Rudi Garcia a selection dilemma with his latest scenes.

Belgian journalists were wowed by the Gers ace, with DH Les Sports handing him an eight out of 10 rating.

They said: “Very available and proactive: he made an excellent impact after coming off the bench.”

Nieuwsblad handed him a seven rating, saying: Provided calm and tenacity. Applied for a starting spot.”

HLN gave him a rating of six, saying: As a defensive midfielder, he suddenly had to help save the Red Devils’ World Cup while trailing 2-0. He didn’t have a huge impact, but he did his thing and provided stability.”

Clearly, the Auchenhowie star had the required impact from the bench, and he may well be expecting to start in future.

What do the stats say about Raskin's performance?

The stats support the idea that Raskin could start for his nation, after his impressive 64 minute spell in the contest.

The Light Blues ace recorded 62 touches, with nine passes into the final third of the pitch, per Fotmob data.

The former Standard Liege man completed 87 per cent of his total passes, with a 60 per cent success rate from long balls.

Defensively, he made one tackle, three clearances, and one interception to help his side get back into the clash and ultimately prevail.

In terms of duels, he won one of three on the ground for a 33 per cent success rate, and it was exactly the same when it came to aerial battles.

The coach has a decision to make now, and it would not be a surprise to see the Ibrox man feature from the start against the Stars and Stripes next time out.
