Nicolas Raskin showed his quality away from Rangers as Belgium drew with Egypt on Monday.

The Red Devils kicked off their World Cup campaign in Atlanta and the points were shared.

The Ibrox faithful won't have been totally happy when their midfielder was left on the bench from the start.

Things didn't start particularly well for Rudi Garcia either as Emam Ashour opened the scoring with a ripper after just 19 minutes.

A Mohamed Hany own goal 47 minutes later levelled the group-stage clash and that's how it finished at Lumen Field.

Raskin came on after 56 minutes and helped to seal a point as the Belgian media were left blown away by his performance.

It wasn't too much of a surprise when Aston Villa duo Amadou Onana and Youri Tielemans started in the middle of the park.

The duo have been utilised throughout qualifying and even in recent friendlies ahead of the summer tournament.

It's safe to say that the selection didn't go particularly well as Onana struggled to impose himself.

He was eventually replaced by Raskin, who immediately made a difference for the Red Devils.

The Rangers man has since been highly praised for his performance, with Foot Mercato writing that his "introduction changed the game and brought dynamism to Belgium".

That was only echoed by RTBF who added: "Having come on as a replacement for Amadou Onana, the Rangers midfielder contributed to the Red Devils' resurgence from the hour mark onwards."

A "great performance", as described by Circus Daily, will certainly go down well with the Ibrox faithful who loved what they saw from the 25-year-old.

What do the stats say about Raskin vs Egypt?

Raskin may have only played 34 minutes, but still racked up 27 touches while completing 14 passes.

He created one big chance with those as he maintained a 100 per cent cross accuracy from midfield.

That didn't distract from his defensive duties as he chipped in with two tackles, two recoveries and three duel wins.

Raskin wasn't able to make a match-winning impact for Belgium, but it's clear that he helped to at least save a point in their World Cup opener.

That will only delight the Ibrox club, even if the Danny Rohl situation is at the fore right now.
