Mohamed Diomande has started to slip through the cracks at Rangers as more players continue to emerge for Philippe Clement's disposal.

Due to Tom Lawrence's absence from the squad, albeit getting close to a return now, the manager has been forced to experiment in the attacking midfield position.

Ianis Hagi coming back into the side has been extremely good timing, hitting the ground running following his expulsion from the first team, while Diomande has also been played further forward.

Despite being signed as a natural defensive midfielder in the summer, joining on a £4.3million deal from Nordsjaelland [Sky Sports], he has scored both of his goals for the Light Blues in an advanced role.

The 22-year-old started very positively during his initial loan spell but has quickly slipped down the pecking order, and branded "awful", since the start of the campaign, and could already be facing an exit.

Rangers to already replace Mohamed Diomande with Carney Chukwuemeka?

According to TBR Football, Old Firm rivals Rangers and Celtic have been offered the chance to sign Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukuemeka ahead of the January transfer window.

The Blues are keen to offload multiple members from their midfield, with the 21-year-old yet to make a single Premier League appearance this season and has only made three substitute appearances in the Europa Conference League.

Despite this, there are no doubts over Chukwuemeka's abilities, having earned his move to Stamford Bridge from Aston Villa in the summer of 2022 and showing plenty of promise.

Given that he can play anywhere across the midfield, this can only be bad news for Diomande, who has been displaced from the starting XI this season and continues to be a frustrating figure at Ibrox.

With a few weeks left until the January window opens, the midfielder has time to save his career at Ibrox with standout performances, but it may already be too late if heads are turned in the Gers boardroom.
