Minsu Kim's positive Rangers start rewarded as announcement made elsewhere

Minsu Kim has been rewarded for his good start to his career as a Rangers player.

The winger has been in good form since arriving at Ibrox from Girona earlier in the summer.

Derek McInnes was in desperate need of a new winger before bringing the 20-year-old to Govan, and upon arrival, he instantly made an impact.

Though Kim has yet to score for the Bears, his overall performances have seen him gain the trust of McInnes and the Ibrox faithful.

That was never clearer than when he was given the nod to start in the first Old Firm clash of the season on Sunday, where the Gers smashed Celtic 3-0.

Now, Kim's early hard work has been rewarded at Rangers with the latest announcement from the South Korean's national team.

Kim has played five times for Rangers, and though he has yet to register a single goal contribution, it speaks volumes that the Gers have won each of their last five games.

The right-winger arrived from Girona for a hefty £8.5million fee, but his form for Andorra FC last term demanded a high asking price for the forward.

He's made such an impact in the final third for Rangers, and everyone knows it's just a matter of time before he opens up his account for the Bears.

New South Korea head coach Robert Moreno has announced his first squad selection for upcoming friendly matches.

The Spanish head coach has included Kim, with the Rangers star getting his first-ever call-up for South Korea.

He was previously part of the U18s setup for his country, but can now say that he is part of the senior squad.

Kim will now have a chance to play in four scheduled friendlies for his nation, starting later this month.

Who will Kim play against for South Korea?

Rangers already have some young, talented internationals in their squad, with the likes of Findlay Curtis and Vanja Dragojevic, but have another with Kim.

The versatile forward has proven that he's a threat in the final third, and creates plenty of chances for McInnes' side with trickery and creativity.

He will be hoping to start in at least one of four games for South Korea, with the first coming against Ecuador on 24 September.

His nation then faces off with Uruguay four days later, before playing Kevin Kelsy's Venezuela on 2 October and then Uzbekistan on 6 October.

This means that Kim may feature for his country four days before Rangers' return game against Kilmarnock after the break.

It's highly likely that he will not start in this game for the Bears.
