Jackie McNamara slams one Rangers player on BBC Sportscene despite win vs Hibernian
Danny Rohl could have had a much worse start as Rangers head coach.
Rangers beat Hibernian 1-0 at Easter Road on Wednesday night, which marks Rohl's first consecutive wins as Gers boss following a victory against Kilmarnock on Sunday.
Danilo was on the scoresheet once again for Rangers against Hibs, as the striker now has two in two, and is looking a real threat under Rohl.
Rangers had many great performances against Hibs, including Jack Butland's heroic penalty save, but Jackie McNamara was not impressed with what one Gers player did.
Jackie McNamara not impressed by 'clumsy' Connor Barron vs Hibs
Before the Bears travelled to Easter Road, there were calls for Connor Barron to start in midfield.
Barron's time at Ibrox has been up and down, but he didn't help his playing chances when he gave away a penalty in the dying minutes of the game, fouling Junior Hoilett.
- Up until the game against Hibs, Barron had yet to start under Rohl
- Barron played the full 90 minutes in his first start since a 1-1 draw with Falkirk
- The midfielder picked up a low Sofascore rating of 6.6
Former Celtic man, McNamara, spoke on BBC Sportscene after the game and blasted Barron's mistake that almost cost Rangers the win.
McNamara said: "No. I don't think he needed to make the challenge there, Barron. I think there were enough players there to stop him [Hoilett].
"I think it was more clumsy than anything, but there's no doubt it was a penalty."
With his playing time already scarce, Barron's mistake may be detrimental to his playing time moving forward.
Mohamed Diomande could come back in for Rangers vs Celtic
Rangers have a massive game against Celtic in the Old Firm derby on Sunday, which takes place in the semi-final of the Premier Sports Cup.
Rohl will be delighted that his side is going into the clash with good momentum following the two recent victories, but that doesn't mean he will stick with the starting lineup that he opted for against Hibs.
So far, Rohl has started all of Joe Rothwell, Mohamed Diomande, and Barron in central midfield in his first three games in charge.
Rothwell featured in Rangers' 3-0 loss to Brann, but Diomande played in the impressive 3-1 victory over Killie, as it would be no surprise to see Rohl put the latter back into the fold after Barron's slip-up.
