How Rangers' Bojan Miovski was centre of strange quirk in North Macedonia vs Scotland
Rangers striker Bojan Miovski played the full 90 minutes for North Macedonia against Scotland.
The 27-year-old is firmly down the pecking order at Ibrox, as Derek McInnes favours others ahead of him.
Indeed, he's only played 22 total minutes of Scottish Premiership football so far in 2026-27.
He has been able to find the net within that, however, scoring against St Mirren back in early September.
As a result, he'll know that a big international break was required of him for North Macedonia if he wanted to catch McInnes' eye back in Govan.
Unfortunately, that hasn't happened for him, but he was at the centre of a strange quirk in Skopje on Saturday night.
What did Bojan Miovski's starting XI inclusion mean in North Macedonia vs Scotland?
North Macedonia were defeated 2-0 by Scotland on their own soil, sealing their third-straight loss of their Nations League campaign.
As for Scotland, this was a vital three points to collect, as Sebastien Pocognoli's side were winless from their opening two games ahead of it.
The Tartan Army are undergoing a period of change under their new boss, as the 39-year-old Belgian looks to stamp his authority on the national team.
And, as detailed by Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph via X, Pocognoli didn't pick a single player who plies his club football in Scotland in his starting lineup.
Incredibly, that means that Miovski's inclusion in North Macedonia's XI meant that they had more players in their lineup playing in Scotland than the Scots themselves.
But how did Miovski get on in the game, and what do his underlying numbers show about his performance?
How Miovski endured a night to forget vs Scotland
Winning his 44th cap for North Macedonia against Scotland, Miovski couldn't add to the nine goals he's scored for his nation.
He did, however, have a major hand in Scotland finding the net in the second half, as it was his handball offence that gave away a penalty.
John McGinn converted the resulting spot kick, which put the finishing touches on a hugely disappointing night for the Rangers striker.
Per FotMob, Miovski created zero chances, put his two shots off target, took just 22 touches and failed to complete either of his two dribble attempts.
He was also dispossessed once, won just one of his six ground duels and none of his four aerial duels, whilst also picking up a yellow card.
Respectfully, it probably doesn't say a lot for North Macedonia's other centre-forward options the fact that Miovski was able to play the full 90.
Miovski won't have caught McInnes' attention with this performance, and will only serve to push him further away from Ibrox opportunities.
