How Bojan Miovski could flip his own Rangers script as Celtic clash offers Ibrox U-turn

Bojan Miovski has the chance to change his future at Rangers from now until January.

The striker came off the bench to score a stoppage-time winner against St. Mirren on Wednesday, in what could be the start of a wonderful story at Ibrox.

The 27-year-old has struggled since moving to the Bears in a £4.2million package deal last summer, and has yet to cement himself as a starter.

There were strong rumours that Miovski was going to leave the Gers before the transfer deadline, especially if a deal was wrapped up for Kevin Kelsy, which it was.

Now, he, Kelsy and Ryan Naderi are all of Derek McInnes' remaining options up top, with both Lawrence Shankland and Youssef Chermiti sidelined for a significant period of time.

Rangers have their first Old Firm clash of the season when they take on Celtic at Ibrox this Sunday, and Miovski now has a huge chance to change his fortunes in Govan.

Rangers were open to selling Miovski this summer, but wanted more than the £4.2m deal that it took to bring him to Ibrox.

The likes of Feyenoord, LASK and Gelclerbirligi were all keen on the former Aberdeen hit-man, but no transfer materialised.

The North Macedonian announced before scoring against St. Mirren that he has parted ways with his agent and opened the door to direct enquiries from other clubs.

This was obviously because he felt like he was going to be far down McInnes' pecking order until January, but that may not be the case anymore.

Miovski's goal against St. Mirren could completely flip the trajectory of his career in Ibrox, as he now has a chance to keep his momentum going against Celtic, and possibly even stay beyond the winter window.

The number nine should be handed a start over Kelsy this time, and considering McInnes' recent choice of words, that may very well be what happens.

What has Derek McInnes said about Miovski?

Naderi is someone McInnes values, and the German was key to Miovski's goal.

The former Hansa Rostock star could play in the hole behind the number nine once again against Celtic.

But McInnes will have to decide whether to play Kelsy or Miovski ahead of him.

As highlighted by the Rangers Review on Thursday, the Gers manager had kind words for Miovski after his goal.

McInnes said: "It's a testament to him and his professionalism. The club had invested a lot in Youssef and Ryan, and he's probably wondering, 'where am I going to fit in here?'

"I'm just delighted we've got someone of his calibre in the building. His experience and execution of the goal were first-class."

The Rangers boss stated that Miovski is a popular figure in the dressing room, admitting he will be among the Ibrox faithful, too, if he continues scoring goals.

The only way he can do that is by being given the chance to play.
