Emmanuel Petit and Andy Goldstein were surprised at a prediction made by Darren Bent ahead of the Rangers versus Tottenham clash.

The Gers take on English Premier League heavyweights Tottenham at a packed Ibrox aiming to maintain their good form in the Europa League.

Speaking live on talkSPORT Drive [12 December, 5:21pm] ahead of the match, Bent said he can see a "comfortable win" for Spurs by a 3-1 or 4-1 scoreline.

Petit pulled a surprised face and Goldstein interjected with: "You've got that wrong. You've got that so wrong."

Rangers clear underdogs against Tottenham at Ibrox

Rangers eased to a 4-1 win over Nice last time out in this competition and, compared to their domestic form over the course of the campaign, are looking very strong.

Tottenham, much like the Gers, have struggled for consistency domestically but are also looking good value to advance in the Europa League.

Spurs are the obvious favourites for this match, even if those inside Ibrox will provide a hugely intimidating atmosphere.

However, the gulf in quality between the teams is not as vast as Bent makes out in his prediction.

Time will tell, of course, but this will surely be a very tight match that is decided by the odd goal.

There is not a huge amount of pressure on the Gers heading into the match, whereas Postecoglou has had to fend off countless questions about his future.

Let's hope the narrative come full-time is whether the ex-Celtic boss will be sacked after a surprise win for the Gers.
