Dundee United v Rangers postponement latest as new Met Office update emerges

Rangers and Dundee United are likely to see their match go ahead this weekend despite weather warnings from the Met Office.

As of Friday afternoon (24 January), there remain high winds throughout the whole of Scotland until Saturday, with much of the country under an amber wind warning from Storm Eowyn, as well as a new yellow snow and ice warning.

While the Scottish Premiership clash being scheduled for Sunday (26 January) helps evaporate the danger of the fate of the game itself, supporters are advised to take caution when travelling to and from the match.

Rangers turn focus to Sunday's clash after their late defeat on an eventful night against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Europa League (23 January).

Rangers aim to recover from Manchester United hangover

Rangers will certainly not have the burden of potential postponement on their minds as they potentially could have had the game been pencilled in earlier in the weekend.

Sunday's clash against the side directly below them does pose somewhat of a threat, but Philippe Clement's side have the opportunity to recover from the heartbreak of Thursday.

Cyriel Dessers' stunning late equaliser had Gers fans thinking they had gathered an excellent point from Manchester United, but for the last-gasp United winner.

The Light Blues are marooned out on their own in second place in the league, with Celtic 13 points ahead and Sunday's opponents Dundee United 10 points adrift in third.

Clement could experiment with his side but his hand will be forced to an extent, having suffered multiple injury blows at Old Trafford in midweek.

In other Rangers news, an enquiry is set to be held at Man United following incidents with Gers supporters in the home end on Thursday.
