Derek McInnes will be licking his lips after 'astonishing' Nicolas Raskin verdict for Belgium - here's why
Rangers ace Nicolas Raskin and his Belgium team-mates had a night to remember at the World Cup.
The Red Devils hammered co-hosts United States 4-1 in Seattle to book their place in the quarter-finals.
It was a particularly sweet win for Rudi Garcia's men considering the discourse around Folarin Balogun's involvement for United States.
Raskin was in the thick of the action as well, setting up the opening goal for Charles De Ketelaere, who scored twice.
Hans Vanaken and Romelu Lukaku were also on target in a complete performance by Belgium, who next face Spain.
And the Belgian media had plenty of positive things to say about Raskin, who has entrenched himself in the Belgium team.
What did the Belgian media say about Nico Raskin?
Raskin impressed off the bench as Belgium fought back late to stun Senegal 3-2 in the last 32.
As such, Garcia opted to hand the 25-year-old a starting berth, and he grabbed his opportunity with a virtuoso performance.
And the Belgian media were full of praise for the way Raskin performed and helped set the tone for his side.
VoetbalNieuws scored Raskin an 8/10 and wrote: "After his strong substitute appearance against Senegal, Raskin was given another start in the starting eleven.
"It proved to be an excellent choice. The number of ball recoveries and counter-attacks thwarted by the stalwart was impressive.
"Moreover, it remains astonishing how many aerial duels he wins for a man of his stature. He also contributed offensively, including providing the assist for the 0-1. It is hard to imagine him out of the starting lineup now."
NieuwsBlad gave him a 7/10 and wrote: "He made a nice run at the base for the (first goal): smart assist. Helped keep balance."
The good thing for Rangers boss Derek McInnes is that Raskin's performance puts him in a win-win situation.
What's the latest on Nico Raskin's Rangers future?
Raskin is facing an uncertain future at Ibrox, but his performance for Belgium is a positive either way.
He is enjoying an extremely strong World Cup, so if he does stay at Ibrox then McInnes will taking on a player brimming with confidence and ready to hit the ground running next season.
If he does depart, he still has two years left on his contract, and his strong performances should add value to Rangers in any negotiations.
The likes of Bologna, coached by his former Belgium boss Domenico Tedesco, and Hull City have been credited with an injury.
If Rangers do decide to cash in, Raskin may have just helped his current employers earn a bit more cash for their buck.
