Derek McInnes to 'bite your hand off' if offered one thing at Rangers right now

Derek McInnes is riding high after winning his first Old Firm clash as Rangers manager.

The Gers put Celtic to the sword in a 3-0 triumph at Ibrox last Sunday to punch their ticket to the Scottish League Cup semi-finals.

Dan Neil scored twice and Kevin Kelsy got off the mark for his new club, in what was a terrifc display from Rangers.

After a shaky start to life at Ibrox, which included being knocked out of the Europa League and Conference League qualifiers, McInnes has built some momentum.

The victory over Celtic was Rangers' fifth in a row, with four coming in the Scottish Premiership before that.

To make that six, they will have to beat Celtic again in the Scottish Premiership this Sunday (20 September).

Last weekend was a really memorable day for Rangers and their supporters as they completely outclassed their rivals.

Now, though, it is time to enter enemy territory at Celtic Park as Rangers go in search of a huge Scottish Premiership win.

McInnes has earned a reputation as a manager who is pragmatic, and able to bend his tactics to the needs of a game.

Indeed, journalist Mark Guidi - speaking on the Go Radio Football Show - reckons McInnes would take a draw right now if he were offered it.

Guidi said: "If Rangers can get a point on Sunday, what a result, Derek would bite your hand off for a draw right now to get that on Sunday. "

Well, only one person can answer that. But you have to think that surely he has him ambitions higher than that.

Okay, you can say that last weekend was only the League Cup all you like, and obviously Rangers have their eyes on the significantly bigger prize of the Scottish Premiership.

But it was still a significant performance, and one that showed Rangers can compete and get the job done.

Celtic will be badly wounded by that defeat, and they also have a Europa League clash with Ferencvaros to negotiate on Thursday before they host Rangers.

There is an opportunity to do something special here. Forget talk of settling for a draw, this side has a chance to prove they can be winners.
