Derek McInnes makes wise Cammy Devlin call for Rangers' clash vs Motherwell

Derek McInnes has caused a stir with the continued use of Cammy Devlin for Rangers.

The Bears host Motherwell at Ibrox this Saturday, and are looking to make it three wins in a row for the first time this campaign.

The Gers will not have great memories of the last time the Steelmen came to Govan, as a 3-2 defeat doomed their chances of winning the Scottish Premiership.

However, a new era has started at Ibrox, and McInnes is finally starting to gain some momentum as manager.

But one decision he appears to continue to make week in, week out, raises big questions among the supporters.

That's Devlin, who has yet to win over the Rangers faithful, despite a clear connection with McInnes after their time together at Hearts.

Devlin was an important player for Hearts last season, and was a key reason as to why the Jambos got as far as they did in the title race.

After leaving Tynecastle once his contract expired this summer, the Light Blues beat a host of clubs from the MLS to his signature.

The Australian international has started in all four of Rangers league games this campaign, and for the most part, has been poor.

Rangers have confirmed their starting eleven to face Alfred Johansson's team, and it does not include the 28-year-old.

McInnes has clearly listened to supporters, and it could result in a free-flowing midfield performance for once.

Let's not forget that he was hooked after 59 minutes against Falkirk last time out, shortly before the substitutions helped the Bears to three points.

Where Motherwell currently excel over Rangers

Motherwell will be no easy push-over for Rangers.

The Steelmen are currently a much more lethal side than the bears, averaging 2.0 goals per game, compared to the Bears' 1.3 per 90 record.

Surprisingly, Rangers only average 0.5 per cent more possession on average, which shows how the visitors currently do more with the ball when they have it.

The Bears can't allow Motherwell respect, and it comes by winning the midfield battle.

McInnes has hopefully made the right call this time, as a loss will only pile major external pressure back onto the 55-year-old's shoulders.
