Derek McInnes got 'timely reminder' at Rangers after lucky escape
Derek McInnes continued his winning run at Ibrox as Rangers beat Kilmarnock on Saturday.
The Scottish manager picked an unchanged starting line-up for the third straight game against Killie, beating them 3-1.
Going into the break, the Gers were three goals up after two from Ryan Naderi and another from Kevin Kelsy.
Despite McInnes' team holding a significant advantage at Ibrox, it wasn't the easiest of games.
Neil McCann was left frustrated and took no joy in winning the second half after spurning several chances.
On a different day, it wouldn't have been surprising if the scoreline had been much closer and more trouble for the Bears.
Rangers almost let the unthinkable happen vs Kilmarnock
Naderi was perfect for Rangers against Kilmarnock, as everything the striker touched turned into gold.
McCann tried to match McInnes' shape and tactics at Ibrox, but it backfired as the Gers had plenty of space to exploit in the opposition half.
However, Keith Jackson believes Killie had a chance to do something special after creating several clear-cut opportunities in the second half.
There were clear signs that while the Glaswegian outfit are doing well at the moment in terms of results, there's still plenty they need to improve.
Writing in the Daily Record on 13 October, Jackson said, "The relatively flimsy nature of Saturday’s 3-1 win at home to Kilmarnock serves as a sharp and timely reminder that there is much work still for McInnes to do.
"Yes, Rangers may have romped into a three-goal lead in less than 45 minutes, but the shakiness of their second-half performance could have allowed the visitors to make a most unlikely comeback after the half-time interval."
What Derek McInnes must've realised after second-half display
McInnes made one change at the break, replacing Dujon Sterling with Kosta Nedeljkovic.
The former Chelsea right-back has been a key player for the Gers this season, tucking in alongside Emmanuel Fernandez and Olwethu Makhanya to form a formidable partnership at the back.
While Kilmarnock did have chances on the break in the first half, they never really threatened Ivor Pandur in goal.
After Sterling was taken off, Killie had a lot of joy attacking the Govan side's right side, with Nedeljkovic struggling slightly.
There will certainly be questions around their defence in the upcoming matches if McInnes is forced to make any changes.
Let's hope those can be answered.
