David Odunukan set for 'stunning' England call - but exactly who is rising Rangers star?
Rangers teenager David Odunukan is reportedly set to be nabbed by England ahead of an upcoming tournament.
Odunukan has been on the books at Auchenhowie for the past year, having initially been part of Motherwell's academy.
The 15-year-old has lived in Scotland from a young age and has previously trained with the national team's Under-16s side.
However, it looks as though the London-born defender will now also have the choice of representing England.
Players need to be capped in a competitive senior international before they are tied down, so nothing is decided yet.
But Odunukan now has options amid a new update that emerged on Tuesday.
What's the latest on David Odunukan's international future?
The Daily Record reports that the English FA has already been in contact with Rangers with regards to Odunukan.
England intend to have Odunukan as part of their Under-16s squad for the Tournoi International de Val-de-Marne this month.
It is described as a "stunning" call-up for the centre-back, who is in line to feature against France, Italy and Japan.
Should Odunukan play, he will be the first Scotland-based player to represent England since Tobi Oluwayemi and Karamoko Dembele more than four years ago.
What's Odunukan's contract situation at Rangers?
Rangers have high hopes for Odunukan, but he is still just 15 and some way off being close for first-team contention.
He is able to sign professional terms with the Gers early next year, which the club will of course be eager to do.
Scotland are said to still be hopeful Odunukan will represent them, and it is not unusual for youngsters eligible to represent multiple nations to try out the best fit.
Only Odunukan can decide that, though Rangers fans will just be hopeful something similar does not happen at club level should another team come in for him.
