David Edgar does not believe Rangers will spend a "fortune" ahead of the January transfer window opening next month.

The Gers added a multitude of new faces to the squad during the summer, signing the likes of Robin Propper, Nedim Bajrami and Connor Barron on permanent deals while Vaclav Cerny is only on loan.

Many fans were expecting those such as James Tavernier, Ridvan Yilmaz and Kieran Dowell to walk through the Ibrox exit doors, and that chance is about to be upon the club once again.

After being asked if Clement will get to strengthen the squad via X [16 December], Edgar wrote: "I don't think it'll be a fortune but, hopefully, we can add a few and move a few on."

Rangers to spend big during January transfer window?

Nils Koppen has been praised for many of his transfers since arriving at Ibrox, especially with the likes of Cerny, Bajrami and even Hamza Igamane, but there have been some interesting choices.

The squad still contains a lot of deadweight which needs to be addressed during the January transfer market, and some exits should open up some spaces and funds for some new faces.

Given the injuries to Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo and Neraysho Kasanwirjo, Clement and Koppen have several positions that could be strengthened but funds are not as available as they could be.

With many believing that the Scottish Premiership title race is already over, with an 11-point gap opening up on Celtic, the Light Blues could put all their focus into the Europa League.

New signings in January could certainly add a much-needed boost to get through tougher parts of the competition, with the side sitting in eighth after six matches.

11 points from a possible 18 is really positive, especially compared to their league form this season.
