Rangers have waved goodbye to Danny Rohl, with the German making the switch to RB Salzburg.

Arriving at Ibrox last October, Rohl was able to galvanise a downtrodden group, and bring some title ambitions again.

Ultimately, the Gers would not have enough come May, as they fell to a four-match losing run to blow them out of contention.

Despite this, fans in Govan will wish him well as he moves on, with the managerial potential clearly there.

Now, he rejoins the Red Bull group, where he kickstarted his coaching career in club football.

And with this in mind, the next opportunity may already be in sight that fully backs up just why he has made the move.

Shock Red Bull decision made - Danny Rohl could be next in line for big opportunity

Reshaped into what is now RB Salzburg in 2005, the Austrian giants make up a quarter of a four-club network.

Sitting as second fiddle in this, Salzburg are often next in line before the side at the top of the chain: RB Leipzig.

As is the case with their Austrian neighbours, Leipzig are despised in the Bundesliga.

However, they have proven a fantastic developer of talent both on and off the pitch, with the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Dominik Szoboszlai, Xavi Simons and manager Julian Nagelsmann all spending time at the Saxon club.

Salzburg have also seen their fair share talent, with both Szoboszlai and Sesko playing for both Red Bull clubs, while Erling Haaland announced himself to Europe with the 17-time champions.

Finishing third in the German Bundesliga, Leipzig are a side sitting just below the elite level, with the goal often being to develop talent before selling for a profit.

But, despite the third place finish and subsequent return to the Champions League, Die Roten Bullen have made the decision to sack Ole Werner, and replace him with former Manchester City and Bayern Munich defender Martin Demichelis.

Despite being relegated from La Liga with Mallorca last month, Leipzig have obviously seen something in Demichelis.

However, he is incredibly unproven at the top level, having only moved to Europe this year as a coach.

Should this go wrong, and he not live up to the expectations, Rohl - a product of the Red Bull group himself - would be directly in line for the top job within the project, something likely to be the case given past links with the club.

Danny Rohl: Every Rangers player to react so far as exit confirmed

Will Rangers wish Rohl well as he moves on?

Despite the tail-off at the end of the season, the reaction at Ibrox will be largely positive - though not in a negative way towards Rohl.

It is evident that the coaching talent is there, and that he will one day coach at the highest level, but this is still a work in progress.

Rangers are a club that both expect and require success in the here and now, with the time simply not there to continue developing the man at the helm.

Heading to a less pressurised environment, the personal decision makes complete sense, and Gers fans will wish him well as a result of the respect and honest in how he has handled himself

To top it off, Rangers have benefitted with the arrival of Derek McInnes, who could be set to go one further after his incredible work at Tynecastle last term.

The decision has been made swiftly, and the replacement has been sorted - now, it is a case of as you were at Ibrox.
