Barry Ferguson might surprise some after what he's said about Dujon Sterling at Rangers
Barry Ferguson is a big fan of Olwethu Makhanya and Dujon Sterling at Rangers.
The two defenders have stood out for the Gers this season, playing a key role in the two back-to-back Old Firm derby wins.
Derek McInnes got the South African international in the summer from Philadelphia Union for around £3million, but he has already exceeded expectations.
Sterling feels like a new signing at Ibrox in the current campaign as he seems to have overcome his persistent injury issues.
The Light Blues' backline has helped them turn things around after a poor start to the season.
If fans had to choose who has impressed them most so far, most would likely pick Makhanya, but Ferguson seems to be of a different opinion.
What Barry Ferguson has said about Olwethu Makhanya and Dujon Sterling
There's already talk of Makhanya leaving Rangers for a significant profit in the coming months after making a big impression in Scotland.
Ferguson has been impressed by a few players this season, including the South African centre-back.
The 22-year-old has needed no time to settle in at Ibrox and has started delivering immediately despite doubts over him, given that he came from America.
While the Gers icon has given Makhanya his flowers, Sterling has arguably been the best player for the Govan side, who will be desperate to manage his fitness.
Speaking on Five Stars VIP on 29 September, Ferguson said: "There have been a few outstanding players, there's no doubt about that. Big Makhanya at the back, what a find he has been.
"You're unsure when he comes in from the MLS. But he has taken to it like duck to water. He has been excellent.
"But the big one for me is Sterling. You keep him fit, he's an absolute machine of a player."
One aspect Derek McInnes will want to improve at Ibrox
Rangers put in almost flawless displays against Celtic, dominating Martin O'Neill's team twice.
The Gers won the first Old Firm derby 3-0 at Ibrox, and then beat the Hoops 1-0 at Parkhead.
There are plenty of positives to take from those performances, but McInnes may have slight concerns about the margin of victory in the second game.
The Light Blues could've won by a bigger margin, but were unable to take some of their chances.
If there's one aspect the Scottish manager will want to improve at Ibrox, it would certainly be the output from his goalscorers.
