Andy Walker 'really surprised' by what Dan Neil did for Rangers in 'terrific' admission
The central midfielder arrived on a free transfer from Sunderland in a summer that saw 14 players move to Ibrox.
Neil initially failed to convince the Rangers fanbase, especially amid the Bears' underwhelming start to the season.
But Rangers have found some momentum under Derek McInnes, winning five straight games in a row.
The last of those, of course, was the comprehensive 3-0 rout of Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals.
Neil, 24, scored twice in that victory, quite the feat for a player who had scored just 12 career goals before then, and he caught the eye of former Celtic player Andy Walker.

Neil did take some time to bed in at Rangers, but there was a lot of upheaval in the summer.
McInnes was still playing around with his best starting XI, which is hardly a surprise given the infux of players who arrived.
However, Neil - who spent the second half of last season with Ipswich Town - has started to strike up a promising midfield partnership with Nicolas Raskin.
Walker, speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, praised Neil's performance, though was surprised to see him net twice.
He said: "I've seen Dan Neil play for Rangers over the past couple of years. It's obviously taken him a couple of weeks, maybe a couple of months to get into the groove of what's required.
"I must say I'm really surprised he's got two goals, he's not a goalscoring threat from the middle of the park, maybe he'll add that to his game.
"He was always a really important part of a Sunderland team going for promotion. He's found his feet, the goals he scored were terrific. the big surprise was no one getting anywhere near him."
Rangers have to do it all again now
Neil and his Rangers team-mates were absolutely outstanding against Celtic last weekend.
But now they have to prove it was no fluke.
It was one thing doing it in the League Cup, but what Rangers fans are desperately craving is getting their hands back on the Scottish Premiership title.
For too long, Celtic have been the dominant force in the league, and Rangers are desperate to bridge that gap.
Well, they have another immediate opportunity on Sunday when face Celtic again at Parkhead.
Can Rangers do it again in the hotbed of enemy territory with no away fans in attendance?
It's a really tough ask, but what an opportunity this side has to prove their mettle.
