Rangers are continuing to make progress in their search for a new manager following the sacking of Russell Martin.

The 39-year-old was dismissed after the recent 1-1 draw with Falkirk in the Premiership, and his departure has since plunged the Govan outfit into speculation regarding who could take the reins.

Steven Gerrard has been heavily linked with a Rangers return, as the boss who delivered their famous 55th league title could move back to his old stomping ground.

However, the Liverpudlian is not the only man who could be in the frame to take over at Ibrox, with the likes of Danny Rohl also in the picture.

Alex Crook hails Danny Rohl for 'miracles' at Sheffield Wednesday

Despite the heavy speculation surrounding Gerrard, Rangers are continuing to consider other candidates to take on the role in charge of the team.

Rohl is still being viewed as a potential option by the club hierarchy, who are set to hold "further talks" with several potential bosses throughout the weekend, according to Sky Sports.

Their report adds that the 36-year-old has "impressed Ibrox chiefs" throughout the process and, as a result, remains a firm candidate for the job.

The German left his previous role at Sheffield Wednesday in the summer and was linked with a move to Rangers prior to the disastrous appointment of Martin.

Journalist Alex Crook has now shared a bold verdict on Rohl in a post in his X account, in which he wrote that he "worked miracles" during his time at Hillsborough.

Crook shared his admiration for the former Owls boss, and added that he doesn't agree with some of the negativity that has met his potential appointment.

Danny Rohl would be an exciting appointment for Rangers

Rohl is an interesting candidate for Rangers, and although he lacks the proven experience of someone like Gerrard, his reputation within football is constantly growing.

The young boss has worked within the coaching setups of both Bayern Munich and the German national team, and did a remarkable job at Sheffield Wednesday given the circumstances.

He kept the South Yorkshire outfit in the Championship during his first season in charge, and then led them into the top half of the table last term, despite receiving virtually no backing whatsoever from the owner.

Rohl is tipped by many people to become a Premier League manager one day, and with that in mind, he is certainly deserving of the chance to leave his mark at Rangers.
