Alan Pardew doesn't believe Rangers have been "brilliant" this season ahead of the upcoming Europa League tie against Tottenham on Thursday.

The Gers sit third in the league and are now just two points adrift of second-placed Aberdeen thanks to their 3-0 victory over Ross County on 8 December.

The game against Spurs on 12 December will be Ange Postecoglou's first time back at Ibrox since his Celtic exit and Pardew believes he's going to receive a rather harsh reception.

“You can imagine the reception he’s [Postecoglou] going to get there [Ibrox],” Pardew said live on talkSPORT (8 December, 19:26pm).

“Fortunately for Spurs, they’re [Rangers] not a brilliant side this season but they’ve found a decent run of form recently.”

Rangers could shock Tottenham in Europa League

While the Gers' Scottish Premiership form has left a lot to be desired this season, their performances in the Europa League and the Scottish League Cup have been quite impressive.

The Gers are in the final of the cup and are also in the top eight of the Europa League.

Indeed, their tie against Tottenham will no doubt be the most difficult challenge that Philippe Clement has faced this season but if they can manage to leave Ibrox with all three points, it'll no doubt help prove his worth to fans after the recent scrutiny he's faced.

The Belgian has recently changed his system at Ibrox and it has worked wonders, with his attacking talent unleashed on opponents.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Clement and Rangers, but if they beat Postecoglou's men on Thursday, the Australian would likely never be able to live it down.
