Aiden McGeady shares what he noticed about Dujon Sterling - he's the best in the league in one aspect

Dujon Sterling earned rave reviews as Rangers beat Celtic in the Old Firm derby.

For the second straight week, Rangers got the better of their rivals in a 1-0 victory at Celtic Park.

Ryan Naderi scored the only goal of the game as Derek McInnes' side cut the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership to two points.

Just a week prior, Rangers had defeated Martin O'Neill's side 3-0 at Ibrox to reach the last four of the Scottish League Cup.

In truth, Rangers could have run out far more comfortable victors such was their dominance over Celtic.

Former Celtic winger Aiden McGeady reserved special praise for Sterling, and noticed one thing that happened with the Rangers full-back at Parkhead.

What did Aiden McGeady spot about Rangers defender Dujon Sterling?

Sterling is really starting to flourish for Rangers under McInnes.

The 26-year-old really seems to be benefitting from the fact he has a consistent role at right-back.

In the past Sterling has been used in different positons, covering in central midfield and left-back as well.

McGeady was speaking about Sterling on the Go Radio Football Show, and stated his belief that he is the best one-on-on defender in the Scottish Premiership.

And he pointed out one thing he spotted about Celtic's Kieran Tierney when going up against Sterling last weekend.

McGeady said: "Sterling as well, I don't think Sterling's had a bad game against Celtic.

"Going forward, I don't think he gives you loads, but I think defensively he's probably maybe the best defender, the best one-v-one defender maybe in Scotland, you very rarely seem him get beat.

"One thing I noticed about Sterling, Tierney playing that left-wing role tried to take him on in the first half, he shifted and went down the line, Sterling blocked him.

"But then in second half he had about a 40-yard gap between him and the centre-half and he didn't try and take him on because he knew he had the beating of him."

Dujon Sterling is a sure starter for Rangers

During the summer, it was looking like Sterling's game time at Rangers could be limited this season.

McInnes had brought Ross McCrorie, who he coached at Bristol City, back to Ibrox, with the ulitily man capable of playing right-back.

Kosta Nedeljkovic was also signed from Aston Villa to bolster the numbers at right-back.

But Sterling has made the position his own in recent weeks, and it is difficult to see how he gets dislodged unless he's injured or suspended.

Sterling earned big praise from his Rangers team-mates after the Celtic win, and he feels like an integral part of McInnes' XI right now.
