Cavenagh is facing plenty of stick right now from Rangers fans due to the Glasgow club's ongoing struggles on the pitch.
Despite heavy investment, the Gers have endured nothing but misery under their latest regime.
That could not be more true of this season as Rangers have failed to win any of their first four matches under Derek McInnes.
Rangers crashed out of the Europa League in the qualifying rounds with an aggregate defeat to Jagiellonia Bialystok on Thursday.
Cavenagh intends to carry on pumping money into the Gers, but it may well be he has another focus before too long.

Speaking at the AGM earlier this week, Cavenagh said he wants up to five more new players at Rangers before the summer transfer window closes.
He may well get his wish as James Penrice and Couhaib Driouech appear to be close to joining.
Cavenagh has also been busy elsewhere, it seems, as The Mirror reported via its print edition on Friday that he has been approached by Linfield over a possible investment.
Senior figures at the Belfast side - managed by David Healy - are in dire need of a cash boost and have reached out to investors, Cavenagh among them.
It is claimed that as part of the pitch, Cavenagh was told how Linfield could be a "nursery club" for Rangers.
That would see young Ibrox talents sent on loan to Linfield to learn their trade before returning to Glasgow.
There is no suggestion any sort of deal is close at this stage, with talks still early on.
Why Linfield arrangement could benefit Rangers
Rangers already have partnerships with Scottish clubs to help nurture young talent.
Linfield could be a step up, though, as they are often involved in European qualifying.
In the short term, all Rangers fans really want right now is their team to be successful.
That could not be further from what is currently happening.
Once the ship has been steadied, though, long-term plans such as this one will only benefit the side in the long term.
