Abdallah Sima has said goodbye to Rangers after his summer loan to Brest was confirmed ahead of the transfer deadline.

The Senegalese international spent last season on loan with the Light Blues from Brighton and while Philippe Clement was keen to bring him back to Glasgow, the Gers couldn't afford the deal [Rangers Review, 15 July].

Instead of returning to Ibrox, the 23-year-old has joined Brest for the season and after the move was confirmed he took to social media to finally bid farewell to the Gers and their supporters.

Writing on Instagram on Friday (23 August) he said: "The time has come for me to say goodbye to a club for which I have a lot of affection, for which I took immense pleasure in playing for this club

"It is very difficult to find the words but I would like to thank all the club staff, the staff, my teammates, and especially you, the supporters, who have always been there for me and for the club. It’s you who makes this club so special!

"Thank you also to Michael Beale for giving me the chance to play for this great club, and thank you to Philippe Clement for allowing me to realize my dream of winning a title with this magnificent club. Come on Rangers."

Rangers supporters will have known for a while that Sima wouldn't be returning to Ibrox this summer, but this goodbye will have hit the fanbase hard as it shows how much the attacker cares about the football club.

Very few loanees would share a three paragraph thanking everyone involved at the club after an injury hit loan spell, but Sima quite clearly doesn't view Rangers as any other club.

Maybe he could return to Glasgow in the future if a deal could be struck. The suggestion from within Ibrox is that he would be interested in playing for the Gers again and Clement has made no secret of his stance on the transfer.

Hopefully, he will go on to have a successful loan spell with Brest. However, Gers fans wuld be happy if he didn't quite do enough to earn a permanent move and instead ended up back at Ibrox permanently.
