Aaron Ramsey expected to return for Rangers v Dortmund after missing Brentford draw

Rangers star Aaron Ramsey missed the behind-closed-doors friendly against Brentford on Monday, but Amad Diallo scored twice in a 2-2 draw according to The Sun.

Ramsey missed the weekend draw against Dundee United with what was described as a ‘minor knock’, and was seemingly still unavailable for the clash.

But Giovanni van Bronckhorst named a strong team to give some regular first-team stars minutes including Jack Simpson, Glen Kamara, James Sands, Kemar Roofe and Amad.

The Manchester United loanee scored twice after Brentford had taken the lead, one coming from the rebound after Roofe missed a penalty, before Brentford scored again to make it 2-2.

The Sun report that Ramsey and other first-team stars that missed the friendly are expected to be back and involved for Thursday’s crucial Europa League clash with Dortmund.

Nail biting time

Ramsey didn’t feature in the first leg of the Europa League tie which Rangers managed to win 4-2 in Germany, but he’d still be a big miss.

The former Arsenal midfielder joined on loan to help the club’s title charge against Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, but it was also to add quality to their squad.

His experience of winning trophies and playing at the highest level would be ideal in a situation such as theirs for Thursday, where they know that avoiding a defeat by two clear goals will see them sail through.

It’s also a positive that struggling Amad managed to find the net, after his tough cameo against Dundee United earned him some criticism from fans and pundits alike.

Two goals will do his confidence the world of good, while also giving the manager a huge option off the bench or from the start if needs be, knowing he will be able to deliver if called upon.
