Ridvan Yilmaz goes to Philippe Clement in tears after injury, major doubt for Rangers v Celtic

Philippe Clement has revealed that Ridvan Yilmaz is a “major doubt” for Rangers to face Celtic in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday, after a new injury.

The Turkey international recently returned from a hamstring problem that saw him miss almost two months of action, and was expected to start at left-back at Hampden Park.

But manager Clement shared in his pre-match press conference, via the Daily Mail (23 May), that the 24-year-old was “in tears” after a new hamstring problem in training and is now likely to miss the final.

“He [Yilmaz] came in my office with tears in his eyes to tell me he felt something again, so we will see if we can get him fit for this cup final,” Clement said.

Huge injury blow for Rangers v Celtic

Rangers have been dealing with some heavy injury problems this season, and they always seem to strike at the worst possible time for the team.

Clement has had to deal with a host of problems in different areas of the pitch, but left-back is a real problem position ahead of this game.

Borna Barisic’s form has been poor for a long time and he looks set to leave the club in the coming weeks to join Trabzonspor, while Robbie Fraser only made his debut last week in the final game of the season.

Dujon Sterling is another option, but with problems in central defence he may be needed to fill in there instead, which means Ridvan’s absence is a huge, huge blow.

Celtic will be coming into the game full of confidence and feeling that they can run Rangers over, but that can’t be allowed to happen. Everyone must step up and claim a second trophy of the season.
