Oliver Antman: Rangers star continues to show why Ibrox spell must end in cameo for Finland

Oliver Antman has been a true disappointment at Rangers, with the Finnish international failing to impress at Ibrox.

There were high hopes for the 24-year-old winger in Govan after he took the Eredivisie by storm with Go Ahead Eagles.

A move to Rangers, who were competing in Europe, had looked to be a step up for Antman, but instead it has been a step too far.

Questions will undoubtedly be asked of his future at Rangers, and if he were planning to turn things around and stay, he has certainly done himself no favours on international duty.

Antman appeared off the bench against Germany with Finland losing 4-0, with his performance akin to his Rangers spell: uneventful.

How did Oliver Antman perform for Finland vs Germany?

Antman may be lucky to be called up for Finland after his performances for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

In the post-split fixtures, the winger played just 122 minutes in just two appearances for the Bears. Despite that, he did earn a spot for Finland in the post-season international games.

First up for Antman was a clash against Germany, where the Rangers man was not afforded a start.

However, after coming off the bench, the winger’s performance was the kind that Rangers fans have become all too accustomed to – one with very little impact.

The 30-cap Finnish winger came on in the 58th minute with Finland already down 3-0 at the time. It was essentially a free hit for the Rangers star to be brave and proactive.

But it was the complete opposite. Antman made just 10 touches of the ball, with three of those unsuccessful, and while he did have 100 per cent passing accuracy, he only completed five.

Yes, Germany are a much bigger and better nation on the footballing stage, but a player who once had so much acclaim should be performing better and getting involved at a higher rate.

What is the latest on Oliver Antman’s Rangers future?

Antman’s time at Ibrox could and should be ending soon, and that may be best for everyone involved.

Reports out of the Netherlands have suggested a move to Club Brugge could be on the cards, after having interest last summer.

However, there have not been any concrete links to point towards a transfer being lined up for the 24-year-old.

Time will tell what happens with the winger, but keeping him at Ibrox would be a terrible decision based on what has been put forward to the Gers.
