Rangers: Where Lawrence Shankland could rank among highest earners at Ibrox
Rangers are set to complete the signing of Lawrence Shankland from Hearts.
The Scotland international is coming off the back of massive disappointment with the Maroons after missing out on the Scottish Premiership title.
He was visibly angry after his side fell to defeat away to Celtic, which saw the Hoops lift the Scottish Premiership trophy yet again.
It seems that was the final straw for the forward, who looks to be on his way to Ibrox as his contract ticks down at Tynecastle.
Shankland looks set to join Rangers as we assess where he could sit within the squad in terms of weekly wage at Ibrox.
🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨
The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
What contract could Lawrence Shankland sign at Rangers?
Everyone knows what the 30-year-old can do and what he would bring to the Light Blues after a disappointing season.
His experience and ability in front of goal will bring something that has often been sorely missed in Govan recently.
| Stat (Scottish Premiership 25/26) | Lawrence Shankland |
| Appearances | 29 |
| Goals | 16 |
| Assists | 3 |
Bringing that to Ibrox on a free transfer looks set to represent a stellar piece of business before the window has even opened.
That does look set to come at a price as part of his contract, as he is already reportedly being paid £25,000 per week at Hearts.
If he is to join the Gers without a fee, it’s fair to assume that his salary will only tick upwards.
That could see him earn £30,000, if not more, every week at Ibrox, which could put him at wages of over £1.5million a year with the Light Blues.
The question is, where will he sit among the rest of his teammates, especially now that Shankland has signed paperwork with Rangers before being announced?
Where does Shankland rank in Rangers’ highest earners?
There are contrasting reports over the current wage structure in Govan, but it’s clear who appears to be the highest earners.
Jack Butland and Youssef Chermiti seem to be paid the most to play at Ibrox at a reported salary of £30,000 per week.
That could see them be at level pegging with Shankland, or even fall down the pecking order in a move that could see the summer signing become the Gers’ highest earner.

He could sit clear of the likes of Bojan Miovski and Nedim Bajrami at around £25,000 and Dujon Sterling at £22,000.
That all just goes to show how important the Hearts man is seen as a signing and proves the difference a free transfer can make to a player’s salary.
