Rangers: Marvin Bartley suggests Danny Rohl has lost dressing room after James Tavernier incident

Rangers have stolen the headlines for the wrong reasons recently, as former Livingston boss Marvin Bartley disagrees with Danny Rohl‘s behaviour in the James Tavernier fallout.

The Bears have saw their season fizzle out to a sorry end with hopes of winning the Scottish Premiership falling flat after the split.

Rohl had been under immense external pressure from fans for losing big games against the likes of Motherwell, Hearts, and Celtic, but the 49ers continue to back him.

The Rangers boss then had a public falling out with long-serving club captain Tavernier after the head coach decided to start the right-back in what would have been his final game at Ibrox.

Taevernier stormed out of Ibrox before returning just before kick-off to wave goodbye to Gers fans, and Bartley has now offered his thoughts, and the worrying underlying causes to Rohl’s actions

Marvin Bartley says Danny Rohl would change his mind if he had a time machine

Rohl came under immense pressure following the Tavernier fallout, with some suggestions that Nicolas Raskin’s recent injury absence is due to a cover-up of another row.

There could quite literally not have been any bigger fallout with any other Rangers player, though, as regardless of who was right or wrong, Tavernier’s big day was ruined.

As seen in the table above, Gers lost four league games in a row before tensions finally boiled over at Ibrox between the manager and Tavernier.

While speaking on Open Goal, Bartley, who recently resigned from his post as Livingston boss, slammed Rohl for his controversial actions.

Bartley said: “I think it’s the manager trying to stamp his authority in the wrong way. It’s one of them, he’s thinking, is he beginning to lose a couple of the players? He’s just done it the totally wrong way.

“If he could look back, he would change his mind if he could go back in time; there’s no way he would make that decision.”

There have already been suggestions that Rohl has lost the dressing room, as the Rangers boss hit record lows toward the back end of the campaign.

Summer break could come at good time for Rohl

As explained by Andrew Cavenagh, Gers are in for a “summer of change” and will look to revamp the squad under Rohl’s management.

Tavernier among others will be leaving Ibrox, which gives the Gers boss a chance to start over with those who remain at Auchenhowie.

This could limit scar tissue damage among the squad, as the starting lineup could look very different in a few months with multiple new players.

However, the fans won’t forget the events that have unfolded at Ibrox this season, regardless of the good start under Rohl.
