Rangers: Danny Rohl to seek ‘elegant exit strategy’ that suits the 49ers amid Wolfsburg links

Rangers boss Danny Rohl could have the perfect exit solution that benefits the 49ers if Wolfsburg come knocking this summer.

Andrew Cavenagh has been vocal in his public backing of the Gers boss, but given recent interest in the German head coach, there’s every reason to heap praise on him.

The Light Blues fell short in their aspirations of winning the Scottish Premiership, and many supporters have since asked for the club to part ways with Rohl.

Cavenagh and Co. believe the former Sheffield Wednesday head coach needs a full pre-season and summer window to be critically judged before making a decision to sack him.

However, Keith Jackson has suggested that Rohl wants to manage in Germany, and that the 49ers could be playing chess with his potential departure.

Keith Jackson suggests 49ers holding out for Danny Rohl compensation

Rohl shut down rumours of joining Wolfsburg recently, but there is evidence that shows the Rangers boss wants to manage in his homeland.

Some have suggested that the Gers head coach will seek an immediate exit following his first taste of Scottish football and the pressure of being in the hot seat at Ibrox.

While speaking on the Daily Record’s Hotline Live last Sunday, Jackson urged Cavenagh to think smart, given the links of Rohl joining Wolfsburg.

Jackson said: “His immediate ambition at that point [Sheffield Wednesday] was to get to the Bundesliga, that’s where he wants to work.

“But, I do think there’s potential for an elegant exit strategy that suits all parties. If I were Andrew Cavenagh and I thought there was a possibility of a German club coming and speaking to Rohl, I’d be getting the same sort of message out there, he’s going no where.”

Jackson then went onto explain that it would be nice for Rangers to get a fee for a manager for once instead of paying out their own pocket to get rid of one.

He said Cavenagh could think strategically, and that’s why he won’t say anything other than that Rangers want him at the club.

If Wolfsburg truly wanted Rohl, then a multi-million-pound compensation payout would be required, and that’s something that may suit all parties in the end.

49ers’ true transfer test comes this summer amid Rohl uncertainty

The 49ers are said to want to conduct a “significant” summer overhaul of the squad, with plenty of incoming and outgoing transfers.

That’s all well and good but they have to make sure the players they bring are adaptable and of high quality.

The inevitable additions can’t be entirely suited to what Rohl wants; it has to be what the club desires and values in players that align with Rangers’ vision.

If the transfers hit the ground running, then great, but the true test will prevail if Rohl is then sacked.
