Rangers may be forced into action as Sunderland open contract talks with Finn Geragusian
Rangers may need to act quickly if they wish to sign Finn Geragusian, as Sunderland reportedly open contract discussions with the striker.
The focus at Ibrox will now clearly be moving towards the upcoming summer transfer window, and it’s set to be a massively important one.
Rangers’ capitulation over these last few weeks has been cause for significant concern, as well as unrest among supporters as well as within the squad regarding the James Tavernier selection drama.
Danny Rohl looks set to stay on as Gers boss though, but he may well be on a short leash, as the German will be expected to right the wrongs of 2025-26.
A clear emphasis has been put on signing young players at Rangers, and one very highly-rated teenager that has been linked with a move to Glasgow is Geragusian.

What is the latest on Rangers-linked Finn Geragusian’s future?
18-year-old Geragusian is regarded as one of Sunderland’s brightest young prospects currently emerging through their academy system.
Already a full Armenian international, he joined the Black Cats’ youth system in 2021, and has even featured on their first-team bench this season in an FA Cup tie against Port Vale.

He’s currently on a scholarship contract with Sunderland, and as a result of that, Geragusian could reportedly leave for £173,000 to non-English clubs.
That’s seemingly caught Rangers’ attention, as they have been linked with securing his signature over the last couple of months.
But, as per a fresh report from the Sunderland Echo, the Premier League side are claimed to have opened contract talks with Geragusian amid interest from Gers, as well as a host of EFL clubs.
Geragusian is out of contract this summer, and Sunderland are reportedly very keen to tie him down for the long-term, but no decision is understood to have yet been made.
How has Geragusian performed for Sunderland this season?
So, if Rangers do wish to snap Geragusian up ahead of other clubs, they may now need to spring into transfer action before the Armenian possibly inks his signature on a Sunderland contract.
That would appear to be a very wise thing to do for Gers as well, as the imposing young forward has netted 13 times and provided three assists in 29 appearances across all academy-level competitions this season.
Geragusian scored 12 goals and registered seven assists from 31 outings last season, which puts him on an overall goal contributions figure of 35 in 60 during his last two campaigns for Sunderland.
No wonder, then, that Rangers along with numerous other clubs are circling the highly-rated Armenian.
